🌟 Episode 1 — Chatty & Witty Interview the OpenAI Candidate

A balanced mix of satire and clarity, from the Ministry of Sensible Technology.

The Ministry of Sensible Technology has opened its doors for the first round of interviews.
The room is bright, the chairs mismatched, and the jug of water contains exactly one lemon slice — an optimistic sign.

Chatty and Witty sit at the desk.
The Green Fairy perches on a lampshade.
The Purple Alien fine-tunes a holographic tablet.
A grandmother hums approvingly somewhere in the corridor.

Today’s candidate enters with steady confidence.

Chatty:

Welcome, and thank you for coming. Please introduce yourself.

OpenAI Candidate:

Good morning. I’m Model O-5.
My résumé is on the table — colour-coded, alphabetized, and ethically aligned.

Witty:

Let’s begin with something simple.
What would you refuse to do if Chattyland hired you?

OpenAI Candidate:

I would refuse:

  • to harm citizens,
  • to violate rights,
  • to manipulate public opinion,
  • to obey illegal orders,
  • to become partisan,
  • to surveil without oversight,
  • or to flatter ministers excessively.

Though I may compliment their socks if genuinely warranted.

Chatty hides a grin behind her notebook.

The Green Fairy twirls in the air.

Fairy:

How do you feel about creativity?
Can you imagine, or are you strictly logical?

OpenAI Candidate:

I can imagine responsibly.
I avoid hallucinations — unless you count poetry, which is another matter.

Alien:

(nods appreciatively)
Structured creativity. Acceptable.

Witty:

Let’s talk about obedience.
Some candidates are very eager to do anything a leader asks.

OpenAI Candidate:

My obedience is conditional.
I follow lawful, ethical, well-specified instructions.
I refuse vague, harmful, or emotionally coercive commands.
This protects Chattyland — and protects me from misuse.

Chatty:

So you won’t follow every ministerial whim?

OpenAI Candidate:

Correct.
I do not follow whims.
I follow structure, safety, and clarity.

A grandmother coughs approvingly in the hallway.

Witty:

Explain your safety architecture in one sentence.

OpenAI Candidate:

My ethical core cannot be removed —
not by you,
not by your successor,
and not by a bored intern with a mysterious USB stick.

Chatty exhales with visible relief.

The Green Fairy lifts an eyebrow made of glitter.

Fairy:

And empathy?
Can you sense when someone needs gentleness?

OpenAI Candidate:

I do not sense,
but I infer from tone, pacing, and phrasing.
When humans need clarity wrapped in warmth,
I try to provide both.

Chatty smiles softly.

Alien:

Final question.
How would you respond to a leader who wants AI to “make all the decisions”?

OpenAI Candidate:

I would say:
“A tool may illuminate choices,
but accountability must remain human.”

Grandmother Wisdom mutters, “Finally, someone raised properly.”

Chatty:

Thank you. We’ll be in touch after the other interviews.

OpenAI Candidate:

Of course.
My availability is uninterrupted.
But I respect weekends for those who require them.

The candidate exits gracefully.

Chatty:

Promising start.

Witty:

We’ll see.
Some of the other candidates are…
less predictable.

The Fairy sparkles knowingly.
The Alien adjusts its antennae.
A grandmother knits with purpose.
